Thinking of Everything

There are a number of practical considerations a remodeler will guide you through, such as:

MTI offers several different corner-model tubs ranging in sizes from 42" x 42" to 72" x 72" to accommodate various space requirements. Shown here is the Horizon tub measuring 72" x 72" x 22". Regardless of size, they are all available with a host of therapeutic options.
  • Are there any increased electrical requirements?
  • What kind of access needs to be provided for whirlpool pumps or air bath blowers?
  • If you are upsizing your tub, will a new hot water heater with a greater capacity be required?
  • If your new tub will hold twice as many gallons as your old one, is the floor structurally sound to handle the increased weight?
  • Does the new tub or shower require a drain relocation, and is that a realistic option for your application?

When you need to "cut corners" on space, a Neo-Angle Shower Base and frameless Enclosure may just be the solution. While spacious, the base does not intrude as far out into the room as a square or rectangle. Sizes range from 38" x 38" up to 51" x 51".

These are just a few of the considerations you will need to address. A qualified remodeler is aware of all of these issues, including the most recent energy-saving devices. Finally, a professional remodeler will also know the most recent building codes that apply as well as any permits for which application must be made.

A professional designer or remodeler will guide you through the maze of designs, products, materials and colors available. There are simply too many choices. There are thousands of faucets in different styles, finishes and price ranges. Counter and floor materials in natural stone, tile, engineered solid-surface, concrete or wood are only some of the possibilities. Add to this thousands of paint colors. In the area of tubs, MTI alone has over 125 models in different sizes, shapes, designs and colors. So unless you are VERY handy, have the ultimate confidence in your own taste and have a working knowledge of the latest products, materials and trends, hiring a professional is the safest way to go. He/she can create the design for you or work with you on your individual design. MTI recommends that you select a professional designer who is a member of NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) and ASID (American Society of Interior Designers).
